THE ROLE­

 

The Second Engineer role entails support and supervision of staff in repairs and maintenance work. Coordination with external contractors, residents and other departments to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion with minimal disruption to the operation. This is a hands-on role that will also at times require active engagement in repairs and maintenance work.

SKILLS

 

  • Assist and support the Chief Engineer in the operation of building systems, and repairs to any arising defects.
  • Monthly forward planning of maintenance tasks, coordination with other departments and residents to prearrange access for works.
  • Preparation of work for contractors, arrangement of access and approval of RAMS and permits to work.
  • Support and supervision of engineering staff in their daily work.
  • Daily review of all Engineering related issues during the previous 24 hours.
  • Regular walkthrough and inspection of all plant BOH infrastructure with follow up on any defects noted.
  • End of month review and report to Chief Engineer on any uncompleted work orders, or outstanding maintenance.
  • Weekly check-in with other departments to update on any issues in their area of concern.
  • Deputise as required for the Chief Engineer during absence and attend meetings etc as required.
  • Support guest / residents during emergency situations.
  • Any other tasks that may be required to support ensure the function of the operation.
  • Note that as this is a 24-hour operation there may be a need at times for the Supervisor to be available on and on-call basis to deal with any arising problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • City and Guilds Part 2 in Electrical, Plumbing, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a building services and maintenance role in a hotel or residential building. Ideally with a minimum of one years of this in a supervisory or team-leader position.
  • Understanding of CAFM & BIM systems.
  • Ability to use in computer systems including BMS, CAFM, BIM and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and follow building plans and drawings.
  • Ability to work at height and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to spend the working day on feet, work on ladders, lift and carry heavy objects.
